What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Playa Blanca is a unique, small sea entry with excellent water quality, offering a refreshing alternative to Baracoa's black sand beaches. While some find the rocky access and potential fees a drawback, many appreciate the natural beauty and the adventurous journey, including mangrove boat trips. It's a spot for those seeking a less conventional beach experience.
"Very good bike trip from Baracoa, the beach is in fact only a narrow entry to the sea but the swimming and water is excellent there"

"If you're lucky enough to travel to Cuba and arrive in Baracoa, you have to visit this beach. It's very small, in a city where the beaches are made of black volcanic sand. It's located in the place known as Boca del Río Miel. You get there by walking east and crossing a bridge, which is sometimes easy and other times impossible. You can also get there by taxi. It's a hamlet where Depardieu filmed Robinson Crusoe. It's beautiful and in its purest state. You can take an excursion, if you ask the locals, to the balcony, where you can see amazing formations and end up in a lagoon in a cave. You can do it all in midday. You can take advantage of the opportunity and hire one of the locals to take you back to the city by boat through the mangroves to the baseball stadium."

"A long path leads to this beach.
Some Cuban has hijacked this beach and charges 2 CUCs to swim in a small crack.
It's not worth spending time here at all."

👨👩👧 Families with Kids
While the beach itself is small, the surrounding area's natural beauty and the potential for exploring caves and formations could be engaging for older children. Pack water shoes for everyone, as the rocky entry can be slippery. The journey to get there, whether by bike or boat, can also be an exciting part of the adventure for the whole family.
💰 Budget Travelers
Opting for a boat trip with a local might be more economical than a formal tour. Negotiate prices beforehand. Packing your own snacks and water is also a good way to save money, as dining options at the beach itself are likely limited.
