Visitors rave about the Castillo's incredible views and well-preserved 17th-century architecture, calling it a must-visit UNESCO site. While the historical exhibits are noted as less impressive by some, the panoramic coastal scenery and the sheer scale of the fortress are consistently praised. Be prepared for intense heat and consider visiting independently to fully explore.

"Incredible views, fresh air and a museum in its own right, it represents and cares for its environment and recreates"

"A definite must visit if you go to Santiago de Cuba(This fort is a UNESCO world heritage site for a reason). It's one of the largest forts I have been to in the Caribbean with many levels, stunning views of the Caribbean, and generally a lot to see. You can actually climb all the way down to the sea ( don't do this in the middle of the day because it's super hot here). I would recommend bringing water as their isn't much shade and it can get super hot."

Sheldon Logan

"Beautiful but extremely hot! The whole place is actually quite Big but the exposition inside is unfortunately not impressive! Also choose wisely when you wanna go there cause the afternoon in the summer is not possible or you gonna feel like a meat on a frying pan! Good advice take a Big bottle of water and a hat with you! Beside that it’s a great spot for a photo with a marvellous and literally panoramic view! A bit beneath the main entrance you gonna find a lovely restaurant with as well a spectacular view and some gift shops and a picturesque Light House."
