What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Elizabeth Spa to be a fascinating step back in time, offering an authentic, traditional spa experience rather than modern luxury. While the facilities are basic and the atmosphere anachronistic, many appreciate the clean pool, therapeutic mineral baths, and the unique historical ambiance. It's an experience best suited for those with an open mind and an interest in genuine, unpretentious wellness.
"We knew that this place is not a modern spa, but we wanted only to swim and were curious to see the building inside. The hallway is really beautiful. The swimming pool is downstairs, everything is basic but very clean, and we very happy to be able to swim and go to sauna."

"So…everything has to be put into context when you come here.
This is essentially a post-soviet sanatorium in a fancy old building (that needs tlc, but which makes it even more fascinating). The whole experience is anachronistic- if you’re up for that, nothing to be disappointed about.
I’m half Russian and I used to go to similar places when I visited my grandma in Russia as a child. I knew what I was getting into - so make sure you know it’s an experience. If you’re in for comfort and super duper relax Western-style, you’ll be disappointed. The idea here is that they provide you with a service and you should feel mildly relaxed.
Yes, the rooms look like medical cabinets. Yes, everything is old. Yes, they wear scrubs. Yes, the massage lady was a bit stern/unfriendly and Czech radio played rather than relaxing spa music. The massage was also technical/practical and not hyper relaxing like a Thai massage.
Would I come back? Yes, for the mineral baths. Probably not for the massage (even though that was a good experience to try once).
I think you need a lot of open mindedness if you come from North America or Western Europe and have no experience of post-communist Eastern European stuff.
Again, I feel this is an overall experience rather than a necessarily super relaxing one."

"Loved the pearl bath and overall experience. Was super traditional including the bath tub itself and the backdrop. Felt like a medical health spa that's unpretentious. The staff attending the pearl bath was an actual nurse apparently. Wish we had known about this place sooner and could have booked more treatments during our stay in the town."

👨👩👧 Families with Kids
However, it's important to note that the spa's primary focus is on traditional health treatments. While the building's historic nature might be engaging, the more clinical aspects and the quiet atmosphere of treatment areas might not hold the attention of very young children. Consider focusing on the pool facilities for family fun.
💰 Budget Travelers
While specific treatments like massages or mineral baths will incur additional costs, they are generally considered reasonably priced for the experience offered. The spa's traditional nature means you're getting an authentic experience without the premium price tag of modern, high-end spas.

This isn't about plush robes and aromatherapy; it's about functional treatments and a no-frills approach to wellness. The beauty lies in its unpretentiousness and the historical context.
