What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Palackého náměstí to be a site of profound historical importance, marking a significant event in WWII. While the modern road layout can make visualization difficult and information is primarily in Czech, the memorial serves as a powerful reminder of courage and resistance.
"Visited this site when I was in Prague after reading about it and watching it on documentaries for so many years. This is the site where Reinhard Heydrich, the butcher of Prague, was assassinated by members of the Czech resistance.
Justice and freedom will always prevail."
Michael Chiang
"A place of significant historical importance, where Reinhard Heydrich was assassinated in 1942 by the Czechs. There is a statue to commemorate the event, as well as nearby text written only in Czech.
The area where the actual assassination occurred has changed slightly, however if one is able to find images on Google and compare them to the current site, that provides a solid indicator of where Heydrich’s Mercedes Benz was during his final moments.
This is a must visit site while visiting Prague, particularly if you’re even remotely interested in WWII history as this was one of the most significant events of that terrible war.
In Prague itself, one can also visit the “National Memorial to the Heroes of the Heydrich Terror”, free of charge, which was the site of the Nazi’s plot to find and, successfully, kill the assassins."

"One for the die hard historians.
There's a stone memorial, some displays (in Czech only) and a large metal tower commemorating this brave act of courage.
Unfortunately the whole road system here has changed since the 1940s with dual carriageways and cannot be easily translated into a vision of the event, which is sad. So you are left by the side of a very busy road with cars and lorries whizzing close by.
Tram stop is nearby though, so you don't have to walk far."
