What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Prague Main Station is a grand and architecturally impressive transport hub, praised for its central location and connectivity. While generally safe, some travelers note the surrounding area can feel a bit sketchy late at night. Navigating the station is considered straightforward, with helpful signage and amenities available.
"Clean place, pleasant surroundings. Finding the gate of the train on the screen was easy. Finding the platform was easy. Toilet was in reasonable conditions. Train departured on time. We bought the tickets online in advance and it was also easy and intuitive. Nicer central station than in my other big cities around Europe. I would travel here again easily."

"Arrived by taxi and helpful driver explained you need to take the lift down to -1 which takes you into the main station.
There didn’t appear to be any staff around but the boards and platform numbers are easy to follow and we quickly found our train to Berlin.
Stunning, old fashioned station with some great Lego displays."

"Prague Main Station is a large, historic, and visually impressive station, especially if you take the time to go upstairs—some areas there are quiet, photo-worthy, and full of charm. One of the highlights is the massive LEGO model of the station itself, located in the center of the building—a great touch that adds character and intrigue.
We used this station for an overnight train to Budapest, which departs at 10 PM. While the station is easy to find and well connected, it can be a bit confusing for first-time travelers. The platform number for our train wasn’t displayed until just 15 minutes before departure, and unfortunately, none of the shops or general staff seemed to know if we were in the right place for the overnight train. That uncertainty made the wait a bit stressful.
The main point of help is the information desks located on the ground floor. Thankfully, the staff there speak English and other languages, and they were helpful and polite in guiding us.
There are shops and cafés available, which is convenient, but seating is limited. For such a busy station, it can be hard to find a place to sit, especially if you’re waiting for hours.
Overall, it’s a beautiful and functional station with helpful staff, but more clear signage, real-time platform updates, and additional seating would greatly improve the experience for travelers—especially those catching international or late-night trains."
