What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Republic Square is widely praised for its stunning architecture and captivating singing fountains, especially at night. Visitors enjoy the festive atmosphere during the Christmas market and the convenience of surrounding cafes. Some reviews mention the presence of individuals experiencing homelessness in certain areas.
"The family at AtlasAdventured recommends this Christmas Market!
Small but cute. It was very unexpected. The market is centered around a beautiful 45 foot tall fir tree, decked out in bright twinkling lights, with the Cathedral of St. Bartholomew as the backdrop. It's beautiful. The stalls were cute, original, well decorated, and had great pricing. There was also a large nativity scene that kept my daughter occupied for a lot longer than I expected.
We found some new food options and tried the chudi rytiri, which was like a sweet dough or pancake on the outside and a little sweet and slightly sour custard- like sour cream or yogurt was used for the filling on the inside. We also tried the Langos, which is a fried flatbread topped with garlic, ketchup, and cheese. It was good - warm and flavorful, but super garlicky.
Although there were no souvenir mugs, we still tried a drink! We got the Horke Bombardino which is like eggnog with brandy, but it tasted nothing like the eggnog we’re used to in the US! It was more eggy in flavor, and it was delicious.
As always, no trip to the Christmas Market is complete without a spin around the merry-go-round!
If you are ever in the area, you should definitely check it out!"

"The square itself is very pretty with many a historical and well preserved buildings. The only thing I didn't like were many drunk and homeless people right by the st. Bartholomew's church - day and night"

"A beautiful place in Plzen surrounded by nice buildings and cafes. Unfortunately we missed the Christmas market. You can park nearby in the parking lot and walk 8 minutes. The church is also pretty and worth a visit."
