What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Zoo Olomouc is praised as one of the better zoos in the Czech Republic, offering a pleasant day out for families with healthy, well-cared-for animals and engaging activities like playgrounds and a petting zoo. While the hilly terrain and limited food options are noted drawbacks, the unique 'Through the Back Door' experience and scenic views from the observation tower are highly recommended.
"Definitely one of the better zoos in Czech Republic. Can spent whole day there. Food options are rather poor though, mostly fast food unfortunately."

"Very nice ZOO situated within hilly terrain. Kind of smaller than Prague ZOO and during my visit there were some reconstructions ongoing, so some parts of ZOO were not fully accessible. Bunch of signs where you can learn various informations, lot of picnic-like places including shopping stalls. In the middle on the highest hill is located observation tower, from where you can see everything.
There is also small safari-train where you can sit (60 czk per person) which will take on ride you around the ZOO during which you hear interesting things about animals that you passing by, definitelly recommend."

"Fantastic zoo and was definitely worth leaving Prague for.
Animal variety is extremely impressive and they are treated well by the friendly and passionate zoo staff.
In contrast to many other zoos the animals are always clearly visible, while also assuring that they have the opportunity to remain unseen and undisturbed if they feel like it. There are also plenty of opportunities for getting up close with many of the animals, which can lead to some unforgettable interactions.
There are also plenty of bathrooms, and kiosks where you can buy food, snacks, and dessert among other things. The zoo is also extremely well maintained and clean, making it a pleasant visiting experience.
The only factor weighing down my score is the lack of credit card support in most if not all of the facilities in the zoo, which makes it important to bring cash in case you need snacks, drinks or you get hungry, while exploring the zoo."
