"We visited Marselisborg Castle during a one-day stop in Aarhus while on a cruise, and it ended up being one of our favorite places we saw all day!
Getting there did require some effort—we waited quite a while for a bus and then had to walk over a kilometre—but it was absolutely worth it. The castle grounds were incredibly peaceful and picturesque, and we were pleasantly surprised to be the only visitors there for most of our time, which made it feel like our own little private royal estate. A few others arrived just as we were leaving.
The gardens and trails around the property are beautiful and very well maintained, and we got a kick out of seeing 6–8 automatic lawnmowers quietly doing their thing all over the lawns—it felt like we’d stumbled into the future of landscaping!
One thing to be aware of: if you’re using Google Maps to head toward The Infinite Bridge afterward (which is nearby and also highly recommended!), the app might tell you there’s a path leading out the opposite end of the castle grounds. That is not correct—there is only one way in and out, so plan your route accordingly.
All in all, this was a peaceful, scenic, and unique experience, and we’d absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Aarhus—especially if you're looking to combine a bit of royal Danish history with nature and quiet charm."
