What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the unique and exhilarating experience of climbing the Church of Our Saviour's spiral tower, offering unparalleled panoramic views of Copenhagen. While the interior is beautiful, the tower climb is the main draw. Some find the narrow stairs challenging and advise booking tickets in advance, especially during peak times.
"The church is impressive! Did like it from the outside better than from the inside. There is a movie that is shown and it was disappointing that it was only in Danish. I mean with so many tourists please put English subtitles on. The tower is very impressive and the view real beautiful. But please don’t go up if you have vertigo as it is very high AND NARROW. I did expect some kind of platform on the top but the stairs just got more narrow and more narrow and ended at some point. A bit weird to be honest. For what it is I would say it’s not worth your money. If you have to pay please make it better and also the number of people should be less for one time slot. It’s quite hard to cross paths on those narrow and steep stairs. I do give it 4 stars as it is quite unique!"

"Brilliant experience walking up the tower. Be aware that some of the steps are very steep and with limited handrails. The view from the top however is spectacular, offering a panorama of the whole of Copenhagen.
Tickets must be booked in advance and you will get a time to go up the tower.
The inside of the church is also beautiful with a spectacular pipe organ."

"So, the most visited church in Copenhagen 😀.
Yes, it is old and yet most of us came here to walk the stairs to the top 😀.
400 step. The first 300+ is inside , wooden and pretty steep. Then , you go outside and continue around the tower, climbing the external stairs. Its actually easier outside than inside until you get closer to the top where stairs become very narrow and finally closed for further trip.
Great views ! Great adrenaline !
Book your slot to climb online in advance during holiday season.
Aha, it will be closed when it rains so do not go if you see showers outside your windows."

The Iconic Spiral Spire
Climbing this spire is an adventure in itself. The ascent begins inside the tower with wooden stairs, but eventually leads you outside to a narrow, open-air staircase that wraps around the spire. This exhilarating climb offers increasingly dramatic views of Copenhagen. It's a challenging but rewarding experience that many visitors describe as a highlight of their trip.
A Climb for the Brave
Travelers often mention the wind and the slippery conditions if it has rained, emphasizing the importance of wearing appropriate footwear. Some reviews note that the stairs eventually end, leaving you at the very top of the spire, which can feel surreal. Despite the challenges, the unparalleled panoramic views of Copenhagen make the effort worthwhile for most visitors.
Inside the Baroque Sanctuary
Visitors often appreciate the contrast between the quiet, ornate interior and the thrilling climb up the tower. The church has served as a place of worship for centuries, and its historical significance is palpable. While the tower climb is the main draw for many, taking a moment to appreciate the artistry and history within the church itself is highly recommended.
