What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Dybbøl Mill for its significant Danish history and the well-preserved windmill structure. The free parking and the option to explore the exterior freely are appreciated, as is the informative museum and the scenic views from the mill. Some note that while the mill itself is not unique compared to others, its historical context and the dedicated staff make it a worthwhile visit.
"A large windmill with a lot of important Danish history behind it. Free car park opposite, over the road. 60 kr entrance fee for the mill, which also has a comprehensive shop, selling 'Dybbøl Mill' labelled alcohol & beer, also ice creams, sweets & sodas, plus the usual range of gifts, trinkets and books. I was allowed a guide pamphlet in English, returnable when exiting, relating the history, battles & various owners and their stories. It is worth it, and interesting, and the view from the balcony halfway up is pretty good. Definitely worth the visit 👍"

"Loved it.
We were four girls visiting this place, and when they were gonna demonstrate the cannons, an employee heard us talking English and asked if there was anybody that only spoke English. Long story short the dude gave information about the cannon firing in three languages. He deserves a raise.
(We think his name was Jannis? say hi to him from us if you see him)"

"Very historically important place for Denmark. The windmill itself isn't that special compared to other windmills around in Denmark, but the area is lovely and the view is great. It was here Prussia and Austria defeated Denmark in 1864 and took parts of Schleswig."
