What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the beautiful, serene location of Drachmann's Grave amidst the Skagen dunes, offering peaceful sea views. However, some express disappointment with the upkeep of the site, noting a decline in its natural beauty and a lack of visitor management, urging for more respect for this historical resting place.
"Holger Drachmann was an important figure in the history of the Skagen artists’ colony. It was he, who first arrived in 1872, and persuaded many artists to go there with him the following years. He instantly fell in love with the breathtaking nature and the simple life."

"Drachmanns Grav – Four out of five stars
Four stars solely for the fantastic location and the magnificent nature. The grave is beautifully situated among the dunes with a view of the sea. A quiet place with a peaceful atmosphere. The grave itself is simple but beautiful and well worth a short detour if you are in Skagen."
Mattias Danielsson
"When we first visited Skagen many years ago, this place was wildly overgrown and romantic, nestled in nature.
Nowadays, the place has become terribly run down, an eyesore. The vegetation has disappeared, visitors carelessly trample over the grave on their way to Grenen, sit eating ice cream on the small dolmen... Visitor management is urgently needed here.
Skagen continues to benefit from this man's legacy. I would very much like to see more respect shown to his gravesite."
