What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally find Scape Park to be a beautiful natural attraction with unique experiences like the Hoyo Azul cenote and zip lining. While many enjoy the adventure and stunning scenery, some find the park to be pricey for what's offered, citing the extensive walking and scheduled attraction times as drawbacks. The commercialization of certain experiences and the cost of extras like photos and lockers are also points of contention.
"We had fun but in general the park was little bit disappointing for what you paid for. The zip lining runs on a schedule (is not always open) you’ll paid $130 for a ticket and you will have to come back at their hours if you want to experience it. Be prepared to do some walking. The monkeys experience is too commercial. You’ll going to see 2 squirrels monkeys and you are not allowed to take pictures. If you want to have a memory of this experience you’ll have to pay another $150 for the photos. The splash hammocks were fun for my kids. The cave was also nice. The green all around the park is beautiful, the water. The rope runners was also cool. Bring your own locks or you’ll have to rent one. Besides the things that we didn’t like we had a great family time!"

"Great day away from the resort. We enjoyed the zip lining as a family(kids 7 and 11), swimming in the blue hole and exploring the park! We spent about three hours there and did a lot of walking!! If you decide to hike to the cenote/blue hole, take your towels and be prepared for a LONG walk there and back on rough terrain! It's beautiful but make sure you feel it's worth the hike 😉 😉. I'm not sure we would do that part again...it's close to 2 miles r/t and not easy for little ones without tennis shoes.
It was a fantastic day!"

"The staff is really nice! And all the pictures they took for you along the park are totally worth it, is a day full of fun and adventure. I would highly recommend bringing your water shoes with you, and a lock, there's a bit of wait for the attractions and some of the are close certain times a day. But is just about you finding the next one and that's all. The people all over the park is really nice, especially the senor in pueblo dominicano that was explaining to us how used to be the life in Dominican Republic in the very little towns he even gave us coffee that he cultivates! Is totally worth it, don't forget your repellent, you would certainly need it."

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
However, families should be aware of the significant amount of walking involved, which can be tiring for little ones. Ensure children wear comfortable, sturdy shoes, as the terrain is natural and uneven. Very young children or those with limited mobility might find some of the longer hikes or more adventurous activities challenging. It's wise to assess your children's stamina and interests before committing to the full park experience.
💰 Budget Travelers
Prioritize which attractions are most important to you. If the professional photo packages are too expensive, focus on capturing your own memories with your phone or camera. Lockers also incur an extra fee, so if you're traveling light and with trusted companions, you might be able to share or forgo them.
🚶♀️ Active Adventurers
Embrace the natural terrain and wear appropriate footwear. The park's layout encourages movement and discovery. Consider booking an adventure package that includes multiple high-energy activities to maximize your thrill-seeking experience.

Navigating Scape Park's Terrain
For those planning to visit the Hoyo Azul cenote or other water-based activities, bringing water shoes is a smart move. They provide better grip on slippery surfaces around the water and protect your feet. The park's natural setting is beautiful but demands a certain level of physical preparedness. It's not a place with paved walkways throughout; embrace the adventure of the natural terrain.
Maximizing Your Scape Park Experience
Consider the cost of additional services. While admission covers access to many areas, essentials like lockers and lunch are typically extra. Bringing cash or a card for these purchases is advised. For families, the splash hammocks are noted as a fun, kid-friendly option. However, be aware that some experiences, like the monkey encounter, are heavily commercialized with expensive photo packages, which might not be for everyone.
Finally, pack smart. Insect repellent is a must due to the lush, tropical environment. A towel is essential for drying off after swimming in cenotes or caves. While the park offers a lot of natural beauty and adventure, going in with realistic expectations about the walking, schedules, and extra costs will ensure a more enjoyable visit.
