"This is not a natural waterfall. It has a dam at the top and the water spells down and that water gets frozen in winters and looks beautiful only in winters. Roads are not well developed and we can say a normal place."

"I was very excited to visit this place and was booming with expectations of having a world class view, but was disheartened when I reached this place. I was searching for the so viral waterfall as I have seen them in reels. But then as I had to settle down with a mediocre waterfall view, i realised it's the timing that adds "extra" to this ordinary waterfall. Best time to visit is ofcourse the winter, when the snow freezes and forms a heavenly sight for the people. In summer however, it just a sprout of water coming through a pipe, from a dam overhead.
It is present near Gulmarg. We had hired a 10 seater vehicle for drung waterfall and gulmarg visit at a cost of Rs 3500. There are ATVs also, which gives a ride to the top of the drung village. We had walked the road, not to the top though, but it was a nice journey."

The Seasonal Magic of Drang Waterfall
In contrast, visiting during the summer months reveals a different, less dramatic side of the waterfall. Reviews suggest that outside of winter, it appears more like a 'spillage flow from a pipe' originating from a dam at the top. While still a scenic spot surrounded by lush greenery and rocky cliffs, it doesn't possess the same 'heavenly sight' that the frozen version provides. Therefore, timing your visit is crucial to experiencing the waterfall at its most captivating.
This seasonal variation means that expectations should be managed. For those seeking the iconic frozen waterfall seen in viral reels and social media posts, a winter trip is essential. For others, it remains a peaceful natural spot offering a refreshing escape, but the true 'wow' factor is undeniably linked to the winter freeze.
Navigating Access and Transportation
During winter, heavy snowfall often makes the paths challenging for regular vehicles. This is where ATVs become the primary mode of transport, offering a unique adventure ride to the top of the village. This service usually comes with a cost, estimated around Rs 2000. For those who prefer a more grounded experience, walking the route is also a viable and pleasant option, allowing you to soak in the surrounding pine forests and scenery.
Outside of winter, while the roads might be more accessible, they are described as not always well-developed. This means that while you might be able to drive closer, the journey can still be part of the adventure. Regardless of the season, planning your transportation in advance, especially for winter, will ensure a smoother visit to this beautiful Kashmiri gem.
