"It’s an iconic art deco building, reputedly a center for the performing arts in Quito. 😎😎😎 Built in the 1930’s, it has undergone several structural changes yet preserving it neoclassical and Arabic influences.
The Teatro is located on a very pleasant pedestrian street, the Eugenio Espejo, named after one of Ecuador’s heroes of the country’s independence movement way back in the 18th century. Espejo himself is a respected intellectual, lawyer-physician who has been a critic of catholic regime of the day.
The Espejo street has several colonial buildings. And there’s several urban art on either side of the street. It’s a good short stroll leading up to the Plaza Independencia."
