Reviews Summary

Visitors often praise the Egyptian Postal Museum for its rich information, detailed exhibits, and the engaging children's corner. The staff's knowledge and willingness to offer free tours are frequently highlighted. However, some solo female travelers have reported feeling unsafe due to unsolicited requests for personal contact information from staff, leading to a mixed experience for some.

"Absolutely astonishing, i never expected all this richness in info and all this love to smallest details. It was a big surprise for me and i was especially pleased that it has a dedicated kids corner where the kids can play post office, write letters and do lots of puzzles. The welcoming atmosphere and the knowledge of the staff won my heart absolutely. I never knew about how many steps it takes until a simple letter arrives from place A to B.... especially important today in our digital times, to look back into how much effort the generations before us did to exchange information. Bring your kids, they will love the models of planes, carriages, ships and motocycles...."

"It is a long overdue review, but it is with incredible disappointment that I have to rate this place poorly. I visited the museum on Friday, November 8 2024. I expected that there won’t be many visitors as there aren’t many people interested in philately nowadays, but I didn’t expect it to be so empty that I was the only visitor in every single room I go to.

At first, a female employee of the museum follows me around, until on a different section, a male employee took turn to follow me instead until the end of my visit. He helped with opening the door for multiple rooms, but there’s pretty much it. It was awkward, but it’s not the problem.

What I very much have problem with is how, towards the end of my visit, just before the exit door that led to the ticket booth, the employee cornered me with another male employee who was stationed outside and asked for my WhatsApp number. At first I thought it was something the museum required, until I realized that they’re asking it for their own self. They didn’t take no for an answer. It got to a point where they almost snatched my phone to write their own number and dial it from my phone. I’m glad I got away without giving my contact information, but I felt incredibly unsafe. I really looked forward to visiting the museum out of love for Egypt and philately, but sadly I must say I won’t recommend anyone visiting this museum alone especially female."
