Elephantine Island in Aswan is one of the most ancient temple sites in the country. The island itself is granite and shows strange anomalies when twisted copper in the natural shape of a magnetic field. Copper wire in any other shape appeard to be unaffected, but the tensor shape somehow tirned malleable and deformed while inside a wooden box brought on to the island. The lore of the Solar boat...

The food in Aswan was next level. I ate at 2 Nubian restaurants on the Elephantine island off Aswan mainland. This restaurant was King Jamaica, I had oxtail cooked in traditional tagine, with bread, rice, vegetables and a complimentary okra stew. The food was absolutely delicious!! I also had the traditional hibiscus drink. I didn't have to wait long for my food and the portions were huge! The p...

Reviews Summary

Elephantine Island is praised for its tranquil Nubian village and historical ruins, offering a peaceful escape. However, some visitors found parts of the island to be poorly maintained and felt it wasn't worth the cost compared to other Egyptian cities.

"In ancient Egypt, it was a place where ivory, a valuable commodity, was transported. Currently it is a peaceful island in the Nile River. You can see Nubian-style buildings and Nubian people living in peace with animals. There are the Aswan Museum and the ruined Temple of Khnum."

Seokjin Ham

"Very beautiful Nubian island without many tourists and shops. The residents are very friendly and the Nubian flair of the people and houses is very nice. Definitely worth a day trip or you can stay in a hotel there. The island consists of a Nubian village, some hotels and restaurants, as well as a museum and an old temple complex with old Nubian ruins. Would stay there again in a heartbeat, we stayed at the Hotel El Amin Guest House right by the ferry with a view to the river and Asswan."

Daniel Kellenberger

"It was a beautiful trip on both on the Nile river and experience the surrounding view of the city and landscape"
