Reviews Summary

Visitors are captivated by the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC), particularly its Royal Mummies Hall, which is described as breathtaking and unforgettable. The museum's comprehensive chronological exhibits are praised for their masterfully curated presentation of Egypt's rich history. While photography is restricted in the mummy hall, the overall experience is considered a powerful and essential visit before leaving Egypt.

"Absolutely in love with this place and all its history! The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is fascinating, masterfully showcasing Egypt’s rich history and cultural heritage. The absolute highlight is the Royal Mummies Hall , seeing the pharaohs’ mummies up close was simply breathtaking. There is a section where filming and photography are prohibited, with about 12 mummies on display.

We made a special visit before leaving Cairo and returning to Hungary, and it was totally worth it. I recommend visiting the pyramids first to better understand the dynasties and kings, and then coming to the museum, as everything makes much more sense. Also, visiting the gift shop is interesting.

Simply incredible — my trip to Egypt!"

Vanessa Kelly

"I visited the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization with my family today. I arrived just before 4 p.m., knowing the museum closes at 5 p.m. A security guard kindly assisted me, directing me to the ticket counter. He quickly checked my bag at the security checkpoint and allowed me to proceed.

At the ticket counter, they informed me that I had 50 minutes left. After I agreed, they issued the tickets.

The guard at the ticket scanning gate advised me to first see the Mummy Museum, as it was about to close. No photos or videos were allowed there. The representative inside personally guided me to see the Pharaoh's mummy.

In the upper hall, taking pictures and videos was permitted, but using a flash was prohibited. Since we had a baby stroller, we used the elevator instead of the stairs.

At the entrance of the other hall, the security staff informed us that time was running out and told us to quickly go inside, take a look, and not linger."

"Super cool and amazing place to go. There was (if my memory serves me correctly) about 21 actual ancient mummies. You cant take photos in the mummy exhibit, but on the main exhibition floor you can. Worth a visit if you're in Egypt!"
