At Abydos, inside the Temple of Seti I, you’ll find this incredible scene: Pharaoh Seti I and his son, the future Ramesses II, reading a list of Egypt’s kings stretching all the way back to the earliest dynasties. It’s one of the most important king lists for understanding Egypt’s royal chronology. Thanks @ian.campbell 🎥 #ancient #ancientegypt #egypt #pharaoh #kingslist #temple #travelhistory #...

Reviews Summary

Abydos is widely praised as a worthwhile day trip from Luxor, with its temples offering unparalleled detailed artwork and historical significance, particularly the Abydos King List. While the journey can be long and the surrounding area less developed, the sheer beauty and ancient aura of the site make it a highlight for many visitors. InstagramReddit

"Totally worth the day trip from Luxor, please do it. Seti I’s detailed artwork in his temple is just unmatched and incredible.

It took us 4 hours to get there from Luxor, so I would suggest start heading over at around 6 or 7am to arrive at a decent time, because you have to do Dendera on the way back and want to make sure you have enough time. We had left Luxor at 8 AM and got there by noon and it was really late so we only had one hour there before we had to leave if we wanted to see the Dendera Temple in time."

The Planet Compass

"One of my three favorite sites in Egypt, and one of the most important sites in the country. Highlights were the Abydos Kings List, the lighting inside and the "helicopter" hieroglyphs, which are simply words on top of words that got damaged and now look like modern things.

In all my visits in Egypt I never said yes to a guide. But I was greeted by Mahmoud, and his approach was different and without pressure. His stories and explanations were amazing (we had the temple to ourselves for most of the time) and the information I learned was invaluable. If you visit the temple, look or ask for him, he shares whatever you give him with the guards inside."

"This is a World reknown place for healing. A major renewal took place with the involvement of Om Seti, also known as Dorothy Eady. The Seti Temple is worth the extension of your time in Egypt. The Osirion Temple and the newly opened Ramses ii Temples are spectacular also. World reknown place to visit."
