What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently describe the Centro Monseñor Romero as an incredibly moving and transformative experience. The in-depth tours, led by knowledgeable and passionate student guides, offer a powerful insight into El Salvador's civil war and the sacrifices of its martyrs. While emotionally impactful, the center is highly recommended for its educational value and historical significance.
"Wow. What an incredible and emotional tour. My tour guide, Andrea, did a fantastic job. What I thought would be a quick twenty minute tour ended up being an hour and half. She provided an in depth history of the civil war and beautifully told the story of the 6 Jesuits and 2 workers murdered at that complex. That combined with the photos and historical artifacts from the martyrs and Oscar Romero made for an excellent tour and a powerful reminder of these past atrocities. Definitely a must visit when in San Salvador."

"A truly moving experience. The centre documents a tragic episode in El Salvador’s brutal recent history. The word “transformative” is overused but this modest centre has that effect. The young student guides - two of whom are in the photograph - are the most knowledgeable, articulate, delightful people."
Fawad Q
"Wonderful displays of artifacts on location and drawings of the event. Well documented important El Salvador history."
