Is this not the most stunning library you’ve ever seen? China donated $54 million to build this architectural masterpiece in the heart of San Salvador. Standing 7 stories tall, El Salvador’s new National Library really does symbolise the path and future that the country is moving towards. I personally love that you can’t play video games until you’re done 30 mins of reading 😂 #whatheck #travel #...

Reviews Summary

MUNA offers a valuable glimpse into El Salvador's history and culture, with notable exhibits like Ancient Egypt and agricultural displays. However, some visitors find the layout confusing and the English signage difficult to read. The significant price difference for foreigners is also a point of discussion. Reddit

"That I got the chance to visit temporary exhibition on National Lottery of El Salvador. I can’t tell better than say that I really learn something new. I enjoyed the agriculture permanent exhibition which explores the agriculture development of the country and region. On the second floor there was an exhibition about African history in the country. There lot of other things to describe but to avoid more spoiling the backyard exhibition was very nice too. Just regret that museum shop store opens Saturday afternoon and I visited during the morning."

Cristhiam José Flores Medina

"First off, the museum IS open as of March 7, 2025. There were a number of conflicting reports in the comments about the museum being closed over the last few weeks. It is definitely back open now.

That said, I was a little disappointed with my visit. They do have some interesting displays, but the layout is confusing. Much of the signage is available in Spanish and English, but some of the English translations are printed in a faint gray text which is nearly impossible to read in the dim light.

As others have pointed out, foreigners pay 10x what locals pay and, honestly, the quality of the content doesn’t merit the $10 entrance fee.

A map of the museum, even if provided electronically, would be very helpful. There are no clear indications where the different rooms are and I nearly missed a few before stumbling into them purely by accident.

I had high expectations ahead of my visit, but left a little let down."

John Pavelka

"I had high expectations for this museum given the rating, and I even allotted >1.5 hours to make sure I can see as much as possible, little did I know that essentially only 1 room/exhibition was available for viewing. Maybe they were conducting maintenance on other exhibition rooms and I was just unlucky, but having paid $10 as a non-Salvadoreño citizen/resident, the cost made it a disappointment. I took my time and finished in ~half an hour."
