What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Haapsalu Castle for its impressive ruins, engaging museum, and the beautiful cathedral. The panoramic views from the tower are a highlight, and the interactive exhibits make it enjoyable for families. Some find the information boards difficult to read, and minor repairs are noted as ongoing.
"This is a large castle ruin still with an extensive exterior wall, an intact tower, and a repaired cathedral which is a very large single nave cathedral. We hadn't intended to visit thinking it was closed, but once inside saw it was open and decided to visit. The castle grounds were free but the tower and cathedral are in a paid museum. The exhibits were fairly simple but hands on and you can test various swords and Armour. My wife and I loved this museum and castle. The cathedral is quite impressive and has a great story inside. A must see in Haapsalu which is a charming little resort town and also worth a visit. This is a top marks from me. Great for kids also. With information simple, effective, and easy to understand. Excellent views over the town and coast from the wall next to the tower."

"Was impressed with the quality, ingenuity and planning that went into making this an historical museum that you will want to visit. It is reasonably priced and filled with historical references without overdoing it. Upon entry there is a starting point that lets you go at your own pace. The route is clearly marked with several options to stop and play/interact with items in the environment and to take fun photos. There is also an opportunity to explore the courtyard by climbing the structural stairs that have been added as well as the completely restored attached cathedral. I traveled solo from Tallinn, then walked to get here and was not disappointed. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience and highly recommend it to others."
