📍Zoma Museum If you know Semira and I, you know we love plants. It’s always great to visit parks and sanctuaries in cities to see what flora and fauna would naturally grow in those areas, and this park gave me a great perspective on what’s possible in a garden here. Some of the Avocado trees are only a few years and already fruiting. Our is 15+ years old and barely taller than me. Pt. 1/2

Zoma Museum is widely praised as a beautiful, peaceful oasis in Addis Ababa, celebrated for its unique mud-and-manure architecture and lush gardens. Visitors appreciate the serene atmosphere, the educational programs, and the on-site dining options. Some note a lack of extensive signage, which can make exploration less guided.

"Zoma Museum's facilities include a gallery, library, children's center, edible garden, elementary school, art and vernacular school, amphitheatre and museum shop.

: children under 12 years old....25 birr

Opening hours: Tuesday-Sunday (10AM-8PM) : Monday (closed)

Mekanisa, Addis Ababa

OUR UNIQUE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS INCLUDE: Gardening: Our students plant seeds and learn the details of the growing process by measuring, analyzing and documenting all the steps.Cooking: Our students learn basic education while

preparing, cooking, tasting and smelling healthy food in a child friendly kitchen.

Milking: Our students milk the cows in our barn and learn how to make yogurt, butter, cottage cheese and other milk products.

Art: Art is integrated in all our educational programs. It helps our children develop aesthetics through color mixing.

Sign language: Our students learn how to sign from a deaf and mute teacher. Sign language improves small motor skills because of the dexterity required for communicating with hand gestures. It also helps children to communicate with other languages. Unicycling: Our students learn how to ride the unicycle without help from adults. Unicycling builds self-confidence to overcome difficult tasks."

"A beautiful green garden hidden behind a school features many thoroughly labeled plant species and also showcases a vegetable garden planted by the students. The beautiful mud houses have a modern blend to them. My only concern is that the park lacks extensive signs showing directions on what to see and where to go, which means visitors might not get the full experience."

Daniel

"Absolutely amazing and beautiful! It's a great getaway from the Hustle and bussle of Addis Ababa. Colourful flowers, queit, serene scenery with walk paths, bridges, tree canopy, and more. My wife and I loved feeling the breeze, listening to the birds, seeing the animals, and relaxing at the mud house."
