Reviews Summary

Visitors generally find the Bahir Dar Waterfront Promenade to be a pleasant and scenic spot for relaxation and enjoying the views of Lake Tana. The availability of dining options and the opportunity for leisurely walks are frequently praised. However, some reviews mention that certain establishments might be overpriced or that the location can be a bit isolated depending on where you're staying.

"Overall excellent value. The washrooms are amazing, the bed very comfortable and the staff is very friendly and attentive. The location is ideal, close enough to water, and there are bars and restaurants within walking distance. There is also a market close by where you can bargain for deals on clothes and gifts. We were only tourists in the hotel as it is fairly new. I would highly recommend booking this hotel before it gets popular and the prices go up."

"I’m writing about my experience in 2020, I had given my review on TripAdvisor by then. I was born and grew in Bahir Dar so I know the city well. I’m also an international traveler and have traveled multiple destinations in Europe, North America, Asia, and Africa.

I checked in around noon for two nights and at 8pm I got back to the hotel tired and thinking on taking a hot bath and rest as I do always. What awaited me was my luggage was thrown out of the hotel entrance, a receptionist talked to me outside of the hotel entrance as I wasn’t allowed to be even in the lobby. Another person which I later was told was the owner, was standing behind inside the hotel and was the one giving instructions for the receptionist who was talking to me. The receptionist gave me back the money I paid and told me that the government had issued an order not to accept guests due to COVID which was a lie as finally managed to find another hotel after a hustle and with the help from local police.

My concerns:
1. Why wait till 8pm to tell you can’t have me in? Your choice of time itself tells a story about you. For those of you doesn’t know the city, 8pm is very late for this city.

2. Saying “Not accepting guests” was misleading as you already have accepted me. What you did was evicting a customer and doing that at a time they won’t be able to find another option. I could have been robbed or mobbed but lucky I still have family there, but the thought that this could have happened to a complete stranger to the city irritates and panics me to this day.

3. They shouldn’t have touched my luggage without my permission. The hotel might be theirs but my luggage are mine.

4. The attitude of the owner who was standing behind was so awful. His arrogance was one of a kind and speaks without speaking. I feel terrible for the employees. The overall treatment, handling, and communication was beyond my imagination of what could get worse.

5. The only reason I chose this hotel was because it was located in a walking distance from family member’s I was visiting. Not only the service but the overall standard is very poor and below even it’s neighboring hotels."

"In my couple trip to bahir dar I booked junior suit class with jacouzi .The jacouzi is not working, water is leaking beneath the bathtub and covers the whole shower room.I reported them and asked to change the same standard room but surprisingly the is only one such room in the hotel. In this case I told them to cancel my booking but they charged me 1800 birr/ 36 usd.Everything was their fault but i paid one night room price, which is expensive relative to the hotel standard. The location is far from lake tana boat sit. It is located in the middle of nowhere. Hotel service, hospitality is poor."
