Reviews Summary

Mana Island Resort & Spa is lauded for its incredibly friendly staff and stunning natural setting, offering a genuine Fijian island experience. While not a luxury resort and showing signs of wear, guests appreciate the value, excellent snorkeling, and family-friendly atmosphere. Occasional issues with service consistency and supply shortages are noted but often overshadowed by the warmth of the hospitality and the island's beauty.

"Absolutely wonderful experience!

Big thank you to Tom and Jope who went above and beyond to make our holiday special for their hospitality from Marina and the Tolsons family.

Mana resort will stay in your hearts! But please note its note luxurious resort, what makes it special is friendly staff and what a tropical island has to offer.

My husband has visited this place 50 years ago as a child and wanted to take his elderly parents back.

P.s. The dogs are super cute and friendly"

"We recently spent a week at Mana Island Resort & Spa. Overall, we did have an enjoyable stay: the setting is beautiful, and all the staff were incredibly kind, friendly, and willing to help in any way they could. The snorkelling was great, the buffet meals were generally good, and we loved that the island has two sides - if one was windy or rough, the other side was usually calm and perfect for swimming. Our group didn’t have kids, but there seemed to be plenty of activities both in and out of the kids club, and families looked well catered for.

Unfortunately, the week wasn’t without issues. The staff were wonderful, but it feels like the resort’s processes and maintenance are letting them down. Despite our booking confirmation for a room with two queen beds (confirmed by email before arrival), we were given one with a king and a single. We were told no other rooms were available but could move after a couple of days. However, the new room was at the far end of the island, and while buggy lifts were offered for guests with mobility needs, they were often unavailable — sometimes we waited nearly an hour, and other times just gave up and walked. Chatting with other guests, it seemed to be a common issue to not be given the room they booked.

The rooms also showed signs of wear and tear: broken lights and fans, doors not closing or locking properly, shower heads that wouldn’t stay up, and towels that were very worn, with loose threads and holes. Beds were also very hard. Cushions were missing from many chairs and loungers around the resort, and the pool area was particularly tired, with sagging loungers and several broken umbrellas.

There were also ongoing supply and process problems. On our first day, there was no snorkelling gear left to rent, and we were told to line up early the next morning to secure some. Once available, the gear had to be returned by 4:30 pm, which felt unnecessarily early given the warm, clear water and daylight hours. Would have been much better to pre-reserve gear for our whole stay to avoid the massive hassle each day. Room servicing was inconsistent too - even with the “please make up room” sign out, we often returned late in the afternoon to find housekeeping hadn’t been by yet.

By mid-week, the bar and restaurant had run out of several soft drinks, most wines, and a few food items. We were repeatedly told they’d be restocked “tomorrow,” but it took about four days before supplies were replenished. The food was decent overall, but the resort would definitely benefit from having a proper barista — even a simple latte seemed to stretch the team’s capabilities. Information around the resort was also hard to come by. Reception and concierge staff didn’t seem to know about snorkelling trips or water activities, and when we finally spoke to the aqua sports team, they were friendly and flexible but lacked printed information or recommendations to help guests plan.

In short, Mana Island has a lot going for it - a stunning location, great snorkelling, and genuinely wonderful staff - but it desperately needs investment in maintenance, comfort, and better organisation."

"Our ocean view bure was right by the sand—falling asleep to the sound of waves was unforgettable. The water out front offers the best snorkeling, with crystal-clear reefs and vibrant fish. Staff are incredibly friendly, and free snorkeling gear and kayaks made exploring easy.

The buffet impressed us with its variety.
Yes some flies buzzing around for breakfast and lunch however I wouldn’t say ‘hoards’ as another review suggested. Fly spinners are available and if you can bring your own you won’t have any problems.

There are plenty of activities for adults and kids, which change daily. We used the nanny service for our 11-month-old, which was fantastic. The massage services were a highlight.

It’s not a luxury resort, and you’re not paying that either. It’s island life in Fiji, a developing country. The grounds feel like a blend of very high-quality camping and school camp vibes, which we loved. A walk to the village offers perspective. We found a Mana Island Resort & Spa group on FB which was super helpful for any questions you may have, regulars encouraged us to keep our booking after the recent, poor reviews and we are beyond happy we did. I’d encourage anyone with questions to join the group for some answers.

Perfect for families and anyone wanting an island escape."

The resort's charm lies in its natural beauty, from the crystal-clear waters perfect for snorkeling to the relaxed beachfront setting. It's a place where you can truly disconnect and embrace the slower pace of island life. Reddit

However, it's important to manage expectations regarding amenities. Reviews indicate that while the staff are wonderful, the resort itself shows signs of wear and tear, with some rooms and common areas needing maintenance. Despite these points, many visitors find the overall experience positive, appreciating the value for money and the genuine island atmosphere that the resort provides. Reddit
