What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the stunning scenery of Lake Saimaa and the enjoyable, moderately challenging trails, especially the coastal path. However, the condition of facilities like huts and toilets, along with inconsistent trail markings, are noted drawbacks.
"The coastal path was pretty and easy to walk. The walk was about 5km, stopping to admire the scenery, and took just over an hour."
Niina P.
"Good maps in the starting area. Clear color markings between the different trails, but unfortunately there were a few markings at the beginning and a few at the end. There were white spots on the rest of the route that the maps didn't say anything about, and small checkpoints that we knew we were going the right way. The buildings on the route were terrible. The hut was nice from the outside, but dark inside and the fireplace was really low. You couldn't see the beautiful lake view from inside. The lean-to and toilet were even more horrible moldy messes. There was no paper or hand sanitizer in the toilet, which has been the case at all the other hiking destinations I've visited this summer. The campfire site was good and there were even trees to saw and chop. The trails were in good condition and easy to walk, also marked as medium difficulty. The best part was the stunning scenery! Despite the shortcomings, I recommend it."

"It's a lovely place😊. There is a coastal path that you can take with children, for example, and there are surprisingly large elevation differences, so you don't get a good, peaceful exercise experience. When you combine this with the wonderful ice age soups, which are really impressive, I recommend it👍"
