"Klubi in the centre of Tampere was an excellent venue for hosting the cultural festival FEST AFRIKA 2017, organised by the Tanzanian musician and choreographer Menard Mponda. The summer programme that took place in early July 2017 featured an eclectic mix of dub poets, spoken word artists, singers and musicians from the African and Caribbean diasporas in Europe, as well as popular guest DJs playing a diverse range of recorded music after the live performances. My particular favourites throughout the festival were the dub poet Roger Robinson from the UK, calypsonian Alexander D Great from London (of Trinidadian heritage), and the Malagasy band Damily, who are well known internationally for playing Tsapiky dance rhythms (traditionally) from Madagascar's Southwest region."
