What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
La Tamarissière offers a beautiful natural setting with a lovely lagoon and beach access, making it appealing for families and water sports enthusiasts. However, some visitors have raised concerns about the cleanliness of public facilities and noise levels during peak times, suggesting that managing expectations and choosing accommodation wisely is key to a positive experience.
"We are now quite used to campsites in France: no toilet seats, cold showers, no separation by gender. Unfortunately, all of this is also the case here! One difference: Toilet paper is available...
During our entire stay of 4 nights, the sanitary facilities were not cleaned. Not even once. The same dirt lay around for days. This is not acceptable.
The pitches themselves were okay, quite small and certainly crowded in the high season. But it's fine in September.
We didn't use the other facilities and amenities.
The location of the campsite is okay but nothing to write home about. A walk in the nearby city is 1hour one way at least.
The lack of cleanliness will certainly prevent us from returning."

"We stayed for three weeks on one of the "Premium Pitches" with a private bathroom and small kitchenette. We specifically chose this area as we were traveling with two 8-month-old babies and wanted a quiet and comfortable stay. While the location itself is beautiful—nestled in a pine forest and close to the beach—we were ultimately very disappointed.
- Despite being advertised as a calm campsite, particularly outside the high season, the noise level was far from acceptable—especially for families with small children.
- Directly next to the Premium Pitches is a holiday home with a private pool. The pool pump runs loudly and can clearly be heard from many of the Premium pitches. Luckily we were far enough away.
- That same holiday home hosted what appeared to be a 40th birthday party during our first weekend. The celebration continued loudly until 1:30 AM. Unfortunately, the security staff was not available at that time and therefore couldn’t assist.
- I don’t understand why this holiday home was placed right among the campers – it makes no sense. The guests showed little consideration for the campers and were loud and inconsiderate in the evenings, making it very hard for our babies to sleep in the nearby caravan.
- One weekend, a group of football players stayed at the campsite. On the second evening, they returned to the site at 9:30 PM, honking their car horns loudly while driving across the entire campground—right past our pitch. Both babies woke up, of course. On the previous night, they had already played extremely loud music until 1:00 AM. This kind of behavior seemed to be tolerated by the campsite staff, or worse, even coordinated with them.
- Although the website stated there would be no entertainment program during the off-season to ensure a peaceful atmosphere, this was not communicated to us in advance. In reality, there was still karaoke at least once a week on-site. The music was loud enough to be clearly heard inside our caravan.
- When events were held in front of the campsite (on the public street), which happened several times, the music also continued until midnight and could be clearly heard across the Premium area.
- On weekends, staff members would drive around the campsite in golf carts, shouting announcements about the evening program through megaphones—completely inconsiderate if your children are trying to nap or fall asleep.
- On our premium pitch, the privacy fence was unfortunately placed right in the middle, making it impossible to park our car on the pitch. There would have been enough space, but the fence was simply in the way.
- The lagoon is generally great for babies, but it was occasionally closed due to water quality issues, which was frustrating.
- Although cars are officially not allowed to drive on the campsite after 11 PM, many people ignored this rule. It's unclear why the entrance barrier isn't simply locked after that time.
- Despite a clear leash policy, we often saw dogs running freely across the site.
- We didn’t use the public sanitary facilities much because we had everything we needed at our pitch—but for a 4-star campsite, we would expect soap at the sinks and toilet seats as standard. Several water taps were also leaking or broken.
Summary of the Final Week
Thursday: Karaoke on-site until 11:30 PM
Friday: Karaoke event on the street until midnight
Saturday midday: Loud live band at the lagoon
Saturday evening: Another live band on the street until late
That entire week was a disaster for our and our babies’ sleep. They still wake up every morning at 6:30 AM—so for us, this was anything but a restful holiday.
The natural setting is beautiful, and the idea of Premium Pitches is great in theory. But in practice, the overall atmosphere is not suitable for families with small children looking for peace and relaxation—even in the low season. What’s most frustrating is that many of these problems could be avoided if the campsite simply enforced its own rules. As it stands, we left very disappointed and will probably not come back."

"Nice camp site where we rented a mobilhome. The lagoon is wonderful (fresh water, not sea water). It is very close to the Beach. There is a cool playground for kids. The animation is truly fun, however almost only in French.
There is a snack bar, but no restaurant. Outside the site are restaurants so that's not a problem.
Take into account that you have to take a short shuttle boat (bateau bus) to go to the centre of Cap d'Agde."
