What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Grand Théâtre de Provence for its beautiful modern architecture and excellent acoustics, making it a prime venue for classical, opera, and jazz. The rooftop views are a significant highlight when accessible. However, some find the interior can be cool, and restroom access during intervals can be challenging.
"For those planning a visit there: in July is was pretty fresh inside, a cardigan might be useful. At the balcony the air conditioning was coming from the floor - I wished I could have my shoes and not the sandals. The sits are not adjusted for the overweight people, unfortunately. For the normal weight you should be fine. The sound at the balcony was a bit weird: amazing sound of the orchestra but the voices of soloists were too quiet. Maybe that was caused by the scenography. Good location. The guys in the bar were doing all they could to serve the crowd on time, but still one needs to prioritise what’s more important in the break: go to the bar or to the toilet, as succeeding in these two tasks might be challenging."

"Excellent production of Don Giovanni last week. Shocking lack of women's toilets. Almost impossible to access in the one interval.
This is part of 'accessibility'. Big contrast with London's Royal Opera House, which is a very much older building."
Patrick O'Connor
"Beautiful building. When the gate to the top is open, you have to go up to the roof. The view over the city is beautiful."
