What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Pagoda of Chanteloup offers a unique, peaceful escape with its distinctive 18th-century Chinese-inspired architecture and serene gardens. While many appreciate the tranquility and scenic views, some visitors find the €12 entrance fee steep for the limited attractions and note that the gardens could be better maintained. The site is generally uncrowded, providing a welcome change from busier Loire Valley sites.
"A nice change of pace from the other tourist attractions in the region. Not crowded at all so you have plenty of time to take in the scenery from each level of the tower. I noticed in some of the other reviews people complained about the condition of the tower and the garden. It is true that it is not perfectly manicured like some of the chateaus in the loire valley, however, the organic feel of the garden really adds to the charm. The garden and tower have a unique natural appeal that is a breath of fresh air compared to the more sterile environments at other attractions. The staff was attentive and friendly without being overbearing, and allow free range to explore the grounds."

"The monument per se is not bad. But 12 Euros to see this, no, absolutely not. Better spend the money in one of the chateau nearby. The site is not well maintained, and apart from the pagoda there is nothing else to see. Not to mention the unnecessary long walk from the ticket office to the entrance. A big disappointment overall."

"No visitors, Chinese garden a bit overgrown. I have known of its existence for over 40 years. Time has not been kind to the place but its peace and quiet is actually a welcome change in a region that sees so many tourists."
