The monumental standing mobile Crinkly is currently installed behind the Église Saint-Florentin in Amboise, France, where it is on loan from the Centre national des arts plastiques (@cnapfr). The setting is fitting as Amboise is just over thirty miles from Calder’s long-term home and studio, which now hosts the Atelier Calder (@ateliercalder) artist residency program, established in 1989. "Another simple amazing church in this city"

"Ordinary French church with temporary exhibitions and abstract stained glass windows worth seeing"

"To sum up, a little disappointment, I will come back for an exhibition. The Saint-Florentin church, registered by the M.H. in 1926, classified in 1963, is an exhibition space managed by the municipality. During these periods of restrictions for health reasons, no exhibition and therefore the building is closed. Note the absence of signage informing visitors of the future projects of this cultural place.

This church was named Notre-Dame-en-Grève at the time of its construction, decided in the 15th century by Louis XI, for health concerns. This was to reduce the risks of epidemics by preventing people from going up to the Saint-Florentin collegiate church located on the castle site.

The interior of this church was modified in the 19th century, stained glass windows by Master stained glass artist Max Ingrand were installed. I tried to take advantage of the exteriors, even if the access is not very obvious, the footprint of the houses in the neighborhood prevents me from going around. To sum up, a little disappointment, I will come back for an exhibition."
