What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Jazz à Juan is celebrated for its legendary artists and the magical, pine-scented open-air venue. Many praise the quality of performances and the enchanting atmosphere. However, some reviews mention discomfort with seating arrangements and occasional concerns about the musical programming straying from pure jazz.
"Sadly some of the concerts of Jazz a Juan have drifted off into a political propaganda event. Unfortunately it is the NOT Jazz part that is responsible for this. The Jazz concerts are usually excellent, but for some reason, this year - they picked some African music - which is NOT Jazz but also good music, if this is what it would remain - but unfortunately some groups use their concert for political propaganda and that is NOT what Jazz a Juan should stand for. For politics you can watch TV or go to a party event of a respective political party - but a Jazz concert is about the music and the musicians and for god sake - at least a few moments of joy without politics !
I will select very carefully in the future if any of the concerts focus on the music or not - and if I feel that a group is using this platform for politics I will stay away. B.t.w. one other serious complaint about this festival is that the seats in the tribune are so narrow - one can hardly fit in - touch left, right, behind and in front the other people - it is disgusting - and in the parkette - there is a lot of dust as it fine sand - people walking and stirring up the sand - and the ones sitting are all breathing in this dusty air - that is also disgusting. So for health reasons I moved up to the tribune only to find out there to be squeezed in like a sardine in a can. This festivals not on a good trajectory - bad comfort and politicising bands are not inviting to buy tickets
