What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Plage de la Salis for its soft sand and calm, clear waters, a welcome change from pebble beaches. The convenience of snack bars and the picturesque surroundings are highlights. However, some are disappointed by the seasonal unavailability of freshwater showers and the beach's tendency to get crowded during peak times.
"Thousands have pushed the button of disappointment. Late September the fresh water showers were turned off by the city. Since then there has been many warm days with hundreds on the beach. I have been amused by this reoccurring event of beach goers trying to get a little fresh water to clean up or cool off, only to be disappointed. They accept the fact that it is off and go about their day. Then one minute later someone else comes by with same results. No one puts up a sign saying "off for the season" or finds a way to turn them back on.
I thought french were a vocal people but then I remembered french default to "no" or "that is impossible". So maybe all attempts to get the city to turn the water on have failed or everyone just exepts the reality, knowing the answer is "no" already.
At any rate, the city saves a few euros while thousands get to be disappointed and stay hot, salty and dirty. That is life on the beach here in October."

"SAND INFO: I don’t normally review beaches but I did a lot of research on where we could find a soft sand beach after arriving in Nice and discovering that their beaches have large river stones. So I just want to save others the time. THIS is is the place. Salis Beach in Antibes has soft sand (not pebbles) and the fine, squishy soft sand at the waterline and in the water. Your other option is Cannes but since we are staying in Nice, Antibes was closer. I’ve included pictures of the sand where people lay out and at the water line.
A couple of other things. The water is VERY calm. Almost zero waves. And there are snack shacks all along the beach with tons of options - sandwiches, churros, smoothies, ice cream bars…."

"Agree with other reviews regarding cleanliness and fine sand. Water had great visibility, was able to see fish of all sizes. Be careful of jellyfish in both shallow and deeper waters."
