When I went we stayed in epernay (a large nearby town) and day tripped out there via car. People in epernay were not friendly to Americans, however in the small town just outside Belleau wood they loved Americans (I think it was chateau thierry). You’d see semper fi stickers on…

"More than 8 thousand men are buried in this small cemetery. Not as big as the American, however, much more impactful. Young men that fought for what they believed was right. Hindsight shows that it was not for a lot that millions of lives were wasted. Truly disheartening to see. There is no parking per day, but you can park your car in the entrance."
