What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Halles de Cauterets for its excellent selection of high-quality, authentic local produce, particularly artisanal cheeses and delicious homemade pies. The competitive pricing at the butcher's and the freshness of the fruits and vegetables are also frequently highlighted. While most experiences are positive, one reviewer noted a disappointing tartiflette from a roadside deli.
"An excellent place to stock up on delicious local produce. As soon as you enter, on the left, the delicatessen offers a fine selection of high-quality homemade products, which can be heated upon request. There's also a variety of authentic cured meats, sausages, and Basque berets, perfect for lovers of regional flavors.
The butcher's shop, located at the back on the left, stands out for the quality of its meats at very competitive prices, often better than those at the neighboring supermarket. The fruit and vegetable stand is also impressive: its produce is always fresh and delicious. I particularly enjoyed some sweet, perfectly ripe greengages there, a real treat.
In short, these covered markets in Cauterets bring together several gourmet stalls where you can find authentic and delicious products, ideal for lovers of good food."

"I came during the winter season to discover Cauterets and I recommend the caterer at the market halls at the main entrance, immediately on the left.
The food is very good, with daily specials that change. The homemade pies are exceptional. You can also book a raclette (the shopkeepers, very friendly, will lend you the machine) 🙂
See you soon!"

"My rating concerns the roadside deli (not the one at the back of Les Halles): inedible tartiflette: industrial bacon, undercooked potatoes, no taste... in short, I do not recommend it, avoid it - you are just taken for fools."
