Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Centre International du Vitrail for its in-depth look at stained glass, offering close-up views of medieval and contemporary art. Many appreciate the detailed explanations and the opportunity to learn about restoration and creation techniques. Some find the detailed historical context a bit overwhelming if not specifically interested in biblical iconography.
"If you want a day trip from Paris, I highly recommend Chartres, a very charming little town dominated by the Notre Dame de Chartres, a Unesco listed cathedral. Stunning leadlights and the cathedral’s detailed sculptures make you wonder how they built it a thousand years ago and how incredibly talented and clever people were then. My photos do not do the cathedral justice. It’s only 1 hr by train from Paris, unfortunately we couldn’t stay for the cathedral evening light show."

"Wonderful gem in Chartres! The ground floor show medieval stained glass that has been restored with detailed explanation of the process as well as the context of the imagery. Highlight of the main exhibit are the reproductions of the cathedral’s glass which is accompanied by detail explanations of each piece. Downstairs displays more contemporary stained glass art."

"I think most people have missed this nice museum to visit in Chartres. They have good description to the iconography of each object, as well as good video of the technique of making color glass.
More worthy to see are their medieval objects of color glasses. The contemporary exhibition downstairs is interesting.
In their yard there was an catto seems on alert to the visitors, which made the visit quite “medieval”."
