Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Notre-Dame-du-Port Basilica for its stunning Romanesque architecture, unique geometric designs, and peaceful atmosphere, especially noting the free entry and accessible crypt. Some mention that 19th-century restorations were 'questionable,' but recent efforts have enhanced its authenticity.

"Visiting from Rue Robertus gives you a better view of the basilica and it's unique geometric shaped architecture. It was empty during the weekend giving a peaceful atmosphere to the visit. You have an access to the crypt too! Overall, it's a lovely romanesque styled basilica worth visiting for some peace :)"

Akshay Rajalbandi

"Beautiful old medieval church. Free entry. Beautiful stained windows and decorative ceilings. Worth a visit"

Louise Nicholson

"Truly amazing church of roman style. No further alterations in later centuries, but original as it was in 1140 when it was built. Ther is also a crypt below the apsis. The ceiling is very beautiful , in the area of the choir it is obvious that the architect had difficulties to combine the different elements into a cross shape. A must see when in clermont ferrand."
