"This beautiful sculpture in the center of the square is a tribute to a famous Auvergne soldier, born in 1768. He had a short but brilliant military career. When the Revolution arrived, he joined the Republic. He later served under Napoleon, always performing outstandingly. He fought in Egypt, excelling at the Battle of the Pyramids. Back in Italy, he participated in the Battle of Marengo and died in combat. His name is sculpted on the Arc de Triomphe alongside the great generals. He was 32 years old."
