"I enjoyed walking along Avenue Joseph Clotis in Hyères because, with its wide sidewalks and numerous palm trees, it's a very pleasant avenue.
Following my visit in June 2025, I can give you a complete presentation of Avenue Joseph Clotis, with everything you need to know:

📍 Location & Neighborhood:
Located in the heart of Hyères-les-Palmiers, the avenue connects Avenue Foch to Avenue Gambetta in a historic shopping district.
Iconic address: 12-14 Avenue Joseph Clotis, 83400 Hyères.

🏛 Monuments & Notable Places:
Town Hall (formerly the "Petit Casino" from 1864): an elegant example of Italianate architecture with a symmetrical façade, balustraded balcony, and a clock beneath a segmental pediment. Renovated in the early 20th century and elevated in 1965, this building symbolizes municipal life.
The Bank – Museum of Cultures and Landscapes: Located at number 14, a former Banque de France building (1920s). A museum dedicated to visual arts and local landscapes, open several days a week.

🌴 Atmosphere & Decor:
A wide boulevard planted with palm trees, established since 1861, creates a very pleasant shaded walkway.
Recent renovations: high-quality urban features (natural stone, lighting, wide pedestrian sidewalks) to promote smooth traffic flow and a friendly atmosphere.

✅ What I liked about my visit:
The charm of the historic monuments lined up around these palm trees.
A bright, green, pedestrian-friendly urban space, ideal for strolling, enjoying terraces, and taking photos.
The museum's presence in a beautiful building adds an interesting cultural touch.

🌴 Palm Trees & Heritage:
Palm trees have graced the avenue for over 160 years, creating a typically Mediterranean landscape.
They visually structure the avenue, symbolizing the identity of Hyères-les-Palmiers.

ℹ️ Practical Information:
Town Hall Hours: Mon–Fri 8:30am–5:30pm (by appointment), closed on Saturdays.
La Banque Museum, No. 14, Av. Joseph Clotis – Prices: €4–8, open Tuesday–Sunday depending on the season.
Access: In the city center, easy to reach on foot, by bus, or by car (central district).
Property prices: approximately €3,200/m², ranging from €1,970 to €4,200.

✅ In summary, I can say that Avenue Joseph Clotis is a beautiful central promenade in Hyères, lined with majestic palm trees and punctuated by historic buildings such as the town hall and the La Banque museum. Its pedestrian atmosphere, carefully landscaped areas, and greenery make it a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. The Italianate architecture, rich heritage, and cultural offerings make it a highlight of the city center, perfectly embodying the Mediterranean spirit of Hyères-les-Palmiers.

"WARNING: DANGER for your dogs and for you at the dog beach!

The idea of a dog-friendly beach is excellent, and we'd like to encourage it. The place offers shade under the pine trees, a few picnic tables, and a shallow water area where dogs can swim freely—a rarity in the region.

But in reality, this place is far from being a beach… It looks more like an open-air dump. The ground is littered with pebbles mixed with dangerous debris: chunks of concrete, rusty scrap metal, nails stuck in the sand or hidden in the water.

My dog was seriously injured after stepping on a piece of rusty metal: his paw pad was cut in half, causing intense pain, an emergency vet visit, and a hefty bill. And this isn't an isolated case. Other visitors have told us they've experienced similar accidents—both human and animal.

This place could be wonderful, but it's neither maintained nor secure. It poses a real danger, both for dogs and their owners. A minimum of cleaning and attention would be enough to make it a beautiful space. But in its current state, it's simply irresponsible to leave it open to the public.

Absolutely avoid it until serious action is taken."
