What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Vieux Port La Rochelle is a vibrant and historic destination, praised for its lively atmosphere, beautiful scenery, and excellent dining options. While it can get crowded, especially during peak times, visitors appreciate the charm of the medieval towers and the picturesque harbor. Some find the prevalence of cyclists and e-scooters a minor concern, and more public restrooms would be welcomed.
"Obviously a very touristy destination. We were able to park here. Plenty of restaurants to choose from.
They have removed much of the traffic from the centre, but I do find the cyclists and E scooters some how more dangerous than the cars. They seem to have more priority than pedestrians and noiseless, appearing out of nowhere to knock you down.
There could also be a greater number of public loos, or are the restaurants expected to provide this service."

"I love La Rochelle . It is much bigger than Ile De Re but is buzzing with ambience . Plenty of things to see and do . Some great restaurants - a market and lots of alleyways and shops. They aren’t as good as I had hoped but nice for a browse.
Fabulous place ."

"Here at the old harbor, there are many lovely shady seating areas on the east side. Pick up some baguettes, cheese, and ham at the market beforehand, and you're ready to picnic like a king."
