What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Grotte de Bara-Bahau to be a worthwhile and reasonably priced cave experience, particularly for its ancient animal engravings and knowledgeable guides. Some reviewers noted that English tour times can be inconsistent and require careful confirmation, and that tours might move at a leisurely pace.
"Website and signs outside led us to believe guided tours were in french and English. Went on Wednesday at 12.15 to be told closed till 2pm. Fair enough, common for places to close 12 till 2 in the dordogne area. Went back Thursday having booked in advance for 2pm only to be told by the same woman on the desk that English speaking tour would be at 4pm. It would have been helpful to have been told this the day before"

"The Grotte de Bara-Bahau is one of the best caves in the Dordogne area for it's price in my opinion.
We took a tour with a guide (I'm not sure there is any other option) and he was friendly, funny and very knowledgeable.
There are some interesting structures as well as some very interesting engravings made by ancient man."
David Mann
"A smaller area but incredibly good as originally used by bears and prehistoric and with friendly guide!!"
