"This place is great for a half-day outing. Easy to visit with a clear trail, plenty of explanations about the different species you might encounter, impressive viewpoints, very clean, and adapted for kids.

You can tell the people taking care of this sanctuary put a lot of efforts to share their passion

We highly recommend getting the binoculars to be able to fully enjoy the observation points."

"Stopped at Le Teich Bird Reserve on route through France and glad we did. Even though September is fairly quiet for birds there was lots to see, in excess of 40 species seen. Well organised with paths and hides in good condition. A must visit if in the area."

David Higgins

"A lovely quiet place for a change of pace.
Easy to walk footpaths and a chance to see a range of wild birds as nature intended. A couple of advisories:
It’s a long walk to the best views - 4hrs to see the whole place (and stop to watch the birds). Younger children might not make the distance!
If you are susceptible to insect bite, wear long sleeves and trousers - I was eaten alive!
Take a drink and a snack. There are toilets on the way round but you’re on your own for refreshments.
Well worth a visit."

Understanding the Ecosystem

The Réserve Ornithologique du Teich is a vital wetland ecosystem, meticulously managed to attract and protect a diverse array of bird species. Its landscape comprises a mosaic of environments, including salt marshes, freshwater ponds, reed beds, and surrounding woodlands, each supporting different flora and fauna. This variety is crucial for providing essential habitats for nesting, feeding, and resting, particularly for migratory birds that rely on these areas during their long journeys. Instagram+1

The reserve plays a significant role in conservation efforts, often in collaboration with organizations like the LPO (League for the Protection of Birds). Through careful habitat management, including water level control and vegetation management, the reserve ensures optimal conditions for its avian residents. Visitors can learn about these efforts through informative panels and guided walks, gaining a deeper appreciation for the delicate balance of this natural sanctuary. Instagram+1

Beyond birds, the wetlands also support a rich variety of invertebrates, amphibians, and small mammals, contributing to the overall biodiversity of the region. The presence of species like wild boars and deer adds another layer of wildlife interest for visitors. Instagram
