What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the breathtaking panoramic views of the river confluence and the enchanting atmosphere of Limeuil village. While some find the gardens themselves pleasant but not spectacular, the overall experience, including the walk through the village and the playful giant games, is highly recommended, especially on cooler days.
"Steep path from the public car park, but well worth the hike. Great views, but the highlight was the walk back down through the village, utterly enchanting and peaceful. The most beautiful village in the Dordogne, and so quiet. Hardly any tourists!"
Julian Tudsbery
"Visited these gardens on one of the hottest and humid days of the year! Bad mistake as there is a reasonable uphill walk to get tovtge gardens!! Lovely people on reception and very polite and helpful. There is a good numbered walk round the gardens to follow which is great as you dont miss anything. Information is provided in French and English which was great for us!! Interesting to learn about the different plants abd what they have been used for over time. We enjoyed the oversized games that were there playing checkers for the first time in years. The highlight is undoubtedly the view of the Dordogne and Vezeres rivers which merge there.
I would 100% recommend if you are in the area but pick a cooler day!!"
Carolyn Dexter
"The gardens of Limeuil promise grandeur but feel more like a polite stroll. Small, a little unkempt, and quickly done — the views over the Dordogne are the true highlight, not the flowerbeds."
