Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Parc Oriental de Maulévrier for its beautiful, well-maintained Japanese-inspired gardens and the abundance of shade, making it a pleasant visit even on warm days. The tranquil lake vistas are a highlight, offering a serene escape. Some note that weekday visits are best to avoid crowds, and the parking requires a short walk through a tunnel.

"Incredible, big Japanese gardens with plenty of trees and shade, so if you start to get sunburnt, you can just walk a few metres and go in the shade to cool down. Not very busy as it was a weekday, but I’d imagine it could get pretty busy on weekends and public holidays. All in all, great place to visit if you are in Maulévrier or surroundings."

"We went on a weekday in early may but the garden was busier than I had expected and there was a good 10 minute wait at the ticket office. The parking is a bit strange as you have to go to a public car park on the other side of a road and walk through a tunnel to reach the entrance. The gardens and the plant sales area were very interesting but not at their best when we visited. It’s basically a linear walk up one side of the watercourse and then back the other side; some of the vistas over the lakes are quite spectacular. We did a 200km round trip to visit and judged it worthwhile."

"Great gardens and outdoor space. Not a full on formal Japanese water garden but a greater oriental influenced space combining colours, shaping and thoughtful planting and curation that captures the essence of a Japanese space. Adorable 💕"
