"Just turned up without a booking, but they got us straight on the river. Family of 5.
Really good value, the kids loved it. Beautiful morning too. Just did the 8km to Thornac, it was enough as the boys had their own Canoes, we walked into Thornax village before the bus picked us up, there’s a little store there and a bar or two."

"Absolutely marvellous! Kayak and canoes available and plentiful. Booking online was a breeze.
You choose how far down the river you wish to go, and what time you'd like to be picked up and brought back to the top.
You paddle with the river flow, so it's great for those with a less energetic disposition; you could literally just go with the flow!
They provide waterproof containers for your belongings, and you will absolutely get wet... Mind your phones! The top station sold phone protection pouches if you wanted to keep your phone for photos, and I highly recommend you do!"

Choosing Your Vézère Adventure
When selecting your route, consider the time you have available and your energy levels. The landing points are where the rental company will pick you up and transport you back to Montignac. It's crucial to be aware of these landing points and their accessibility. For instance, the landing at Tursac is noted as being not immediately obvious, so paying attention to landmarks like bridges is advised. The staff are usually very helpful in guiding you on where to aim for.
Ultimately, the 'best' trip length is subjective and depends on your preferences. Whether you opt for a leisurely few hours or a full day on the water, the Vézère offers a serene and picturesque setting for a memorable outdoor activity.
What to Pack and Wear
When it comes to clothing, quick-drying fabrics are your best friend. Think synthetic materials rather than cotton. Water shoes or sturdy sandals that can get wet and stay securely on your feet are ideal. Avoid flip-flops that can easily be lost in the river. A swimsuit is optional, depending on how much you anticipate getting wet and if you're brave enough for a dip! Sun protection is also vital – a hat with a brim, sunglasses, and sunscreen are essential, even on cloudy days.
Don't forget water and snacks, especially for longer excursions. Staying hydrated and having a little something to eat can make a big difference. While the rental company provides essential safety gear like life vests and paddles, bringing a small waterproof bag for personal items like keys, a small towel, and any necessary medication is a good idea.
