What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Hôtel de Ville Mulhouse for its stunning, unique rose-colored facade and its prominent location in the vibrant Place de la Réunion. The building is considered a beautiful architectural highlight of Mulhouse's old town. However, some visitors have reported negative experiences with the unfriendliness of certain administrative staff within the civil status department.
"Built in the first part of the 1500s, the Mairie de Mulhouse is an imposing big rectangular building taking up a big part of one side of the central plaza in the old city of Mulhouse. It's painted in an attractive rose color with bright gold ornamentation and painted features. The Mairie anchors the plaza in which an historic church, the church of Saint-Étienne, is also located.
If you visit Mulhouse and want to appreciate its old city — and you should definitely do that — a visit to the Mairie is essential. When I was there in the first part of June 2025, a stork was nesting in a nest high on the Mairie roof, making it an even more wonderful sight to see and place to visit."
