What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Erdre River cruise is praised for its beautiful scenery and the chance to see Nantes' châteaux from the water. Many find it a relaxing and enjoyable experience, particularly with friendly service. However, the commentary is primarily in French, which can be a drawback for non-French speakers, and the quality and price of onboard food receive mixed reviews.
"Great way to discover Nantes or to spend a romantic moment. The food is good, very simple with local products. The wine was also very good. It is difficult to hear the audio guided visit, however it doesn't keep you from enjoying the cruise. The staff was great !
Only bad thing was that we had to reschedule our reservation and do the cruise during a week day instead of the weekend. The price was 36€ less expensive during the week but they never wanted to give us a refund for this amount."

"Very nice river cruise. Great ship and friendly service. Food poor, dried out and over expensive"
DICK MCCOLL
"If you are anything but French don't bother. Only commentary is in French. Worse still the compare is also the bar person so this does not open until on the way back. No idea of any information and totally parched. Thank god only 25c and not the 35c of a few days back. If you English avoid unless you not interested in info an getting a beverage.
Boat was okay and scenery nice. But been on boat trips across Europe and always multi lingual most recently in Bruges."

Many travelers highlight the scenic beauty and the opportunity to see impressive architecture from a unique perspective. It's a chance to relax and soak in the local landscape. While the primary commentary is in French, the visual experience is universally appealing, making it a worthwhile activity for most visitors.
Key takeaway: This cruise is best enjoyed for its visual splendor and peaceful atmosphere, offering a refreshing contrast to city exploration. If historical details are paramount, consider supplementing with a guide map or prior research.
Understanding the Nantes City Pass & Cruises
Reddit discussions frequently touch upon the need to pre-book even when using the City Pass. This is to ensure availability, especially for popular weekend slots. Travelers are advised to check the specific terms of their pass and contact the cruise operator in advance to secure their spot. Failure to do so can lead to disappointment.
Pro-tip: Always verify the exact inclusions and booking procedures for the Erdre River cruise with your Nantes City Pass. Contacting the cruise provider directly a few days before your intended trip is a good practice to avoid any last-minute issues.
Dining Experiences on the Water
Some reviews describe the food as 'poor,' 'dried out,' and 'overpriced,' while others mention 'simple, local products' and 'good wine.' This inconsistency suggests that expectations should be managed. If you're seeking a gourmet culinary experience, a dedicated restaurant might be a better choice.
Recommendation: If you opt for a cruise with food, consider it an accompaniment to the scenic journey rather than the main event. Alternatively, enjoy the views and plan to dine at one of Nantes' many excellent restaurants before or after your cruise.
