What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Plage Beau Rivage is praised for its stunning Mediterranean views, clear blue waters, and relaxing beach club atmosphere. Visitors appreciate the attentive service and the beautiful setting for sunset dining. However, some find the pebble beach uncomfortable without water shoes and note that private services come with higher 'tourist rates'.
"We simply walked past but did not need the beach itself.
However what we could see was a very well kept beach with some spectacular weather. Excellent location for getting around some shops, cafés and restaurants.
Fairly busy but why wouldn't it be!?
Public transport and tours are plentiful.
It's no wonder so many people move to the south of France."

"We were able to reserve two beach beds via email and were told to arrive between 10am-11:30am to secure a spot. Which kind of defeats the purpose of the reservation. We did arrive at 9:45am and checked in at 10am. The beach club was almost empty up until about noon so I’m not sure if the reservation was necessary. It cost about $98 for two beds, an umbrella, two towels, and two spots in front. Obviously it is a tourist spot and so they are going to charge the tourist rate. The locals just seem to bring their own mats and umbrellas. The kitchen opens at noon and although the menu says there’s lunch special combo/rate, our server said that it wasn’t available even though it was a Tuesday. The food was okay. Definitely bring water shoes if you decide to visit any of the beaches along the promenade."

"We loved having dinner here on our last night in Nice. The prices are quite fair for a seafront restaurant, the view and sunset were amazing. Highly recommended."

The Unique Pebble Beach Experience
The pebble composition also means the beach can heat up significantly under the Mediterranean sun. While the private areas of Plage Beau Rivage provide umbrellas for shade, it's worth noting for those planning a public beach visit. The visual appeal of the pebbles, especially when wet and glistening, adds to the distinct charm of the French Riviera coastline. It's a characteristic that sets Nice's beaches apart and contributes to their natural beauty.
Beach Club Services and Value
While the services are appreciated, it's important to be aware of the pricing. As a private establishment in a prime tourist location, the costs, particularly for beach bed rentals, are often referred to as 'tourist rates.' Some reviews suggest that reservations might not always be strictly necessary, as the beach club can be quiet until midday. However, booking in advance is still a good strategy to guarantee a spot, especially during the busy summer months. The value proposition lies in the convenience and the dedicated service provided by staff like Malik, who has been praised for his exceptional service.
The Allure of the Mediterranean Water
Early morning swims are particularly recommended by visitors who have experienced this phenomenon. The calm, cool waters at sunrise offer a serene start to the day and a chance to witness the sea at its most luminous. The refreshing nature of the water is a significant draw for tourists looking to cool off from the Riviera sun. The overall experience of swimming in these clear, blue waters is a highlight for many visitors to Nice.
