If you’re visiting Nice, take a day trip to Villefranche-sur-mer which has an amazing beach called plage de mariniere. 📍 Plage de Mariniere is a lovely white sand beach with crystal clear blue waters that is definitely better than the pebble beach in Nice. And it costs only 2 euros to take this 8 minute train to this paradise. If you’re booking your trains, I highly recommend booking them on @Tr...

Reviews Summary

Plage de Carras is a public beach known for its accessibility and plane spotting opportunities, though its pebble terrain requires specific footwear. While some find the beach comfortable with amenities like showers and a smooth water entry, others note the lack of sand and potential discomfort without water shoes. Concerns about personal belongings and the presence of groups of men have also been mentioned by some visitors.

"Stoney beach, not made for a beach day. But good for Picnic and plane spotting.
Also many groups if refugees men gather around which made it very uncomfortable to show in bikini as they constanfly starred and tried to be flirty in shady ways."

Ria

"It’s a very long beach but very pebbly with quite a deep shelf to negotiate before you actually get into the sea. You definitely need swimming shoes because it’s torture to walk on the pebbles without them. There is no shade so bring your own parasol, otherwise renting one for half a day start at 20€ (approx). If you’re a person who likes to lie on the beach to sunbathe, bring extra thick towels or mats. There are also (cold) showers which are a bonus, especially in this heat. The sea is lovely and clean but choppy."

Sea Spray Hm

"Very nice beach. It has smaller rocks, even a bit of sand. The entrance in the water is quite smooth. It also has a handi-plage, a beach for handicapped people with special help. It also has Baywatch close. Seemed to have a public toilet and benches with shade. It is a family friendly beach and quite quiet."

Unlike sandy beaches, these smooth stones can make walking uncomfortable and entering the water a bit challenging without proper footwear. Many travelers strongly advise wearing water shoes or sandals to protect your feet and make the experience more enjoyable. Reddit While some reviews mention a mix of smaller rocks and even a bit of sand, the dominant feature is the pebbles. Reddit This means bringing extra thick towels or mats if you plan to lie down and sunbathe, as they will provide more cushioning than standard beach towels. Reddit

Despite the pebbles, the sea at Plage de Carras is often described as lovely, clean, and blue, with a smooth entry into the water for swimmers. Reddit The presence of cold showers is a welcome amenity, offering a refreshing way to rinse off after a swim, especially during the warm Mediterranean climate. Reddit While shade is scarce, the beach is equipped with benches that sometimes offer shade, and renting a parasol is an option, though it can be costly. Reddit
