Reviews Summary
Reviews for Imaginarium Nuits-Saint-Georges are mixed. Many praise the informative historical exhibits and the enjoyable wine tasting sessions, highlighting the staff's knowledge and the quality of the wines. However, some visitors have expressed disappointment with non-functional exhibits, language barriers during tastings, and concerns about the freshness of the wines served.
"Definitely not what I expected, it was even better. The tour through the three rooms of history was completely in German and we learned a lot of things. You really can see and feel they took their time and put a lot of love and fun in it. The wine tasting was also very pleasing. We had five wines, one sparkling, two whites and two reds. She gave us all of the information we needed and took time to explain, answer questions and talk to us. Can’t relate to the bad reviews, especially if you complained about standing during the tasting, don’t be lazy (except the handicapped obviously) Highly recommend the place."

"No warning about facilities malfunction before entry. We stood in the dark listened for pure audio for at least half an hour. Wine at tasting session was told to be a week old with only vacuum preservation. Either they were preserved badly or they were not a good selection. Reflected to the staff she said it’s normal and she could do nothing. Total waste of time, not recommended for tourists."

"This is the worst wine experience I had in France. I took a sommelier course in Bordeaux and I had WSET 3. I am working in the wine industry. I have been to different wine regions in France to learn about wines before, Bordeaux, Chateauneuf-du-pape, and other Southern Rhône Valley regions, Chablis, Bandol, Provence, etc, this is the first time my friends and I were so disappointed. It was a waste of time! Strongly not recommended for tourists and any wine lovers.
1. Non-functional display room and exhibition items
There were three display rooms telling the history of Burgundy wine, however, there was one totally out of order, and we were forced to stay in the darkness seeing nothing with some recording sounds for around 15 minutes. They informed us one part of the exhibition was not working very well but didn't tell us we had to stay in the darkness for that long. Moreover, in the museum about the winemaking of Champagne, some of the display screens and exhibition games were broken.
2. Unprofessional staff
The staff did the wine tasting with us was very unprofessional. First of all, she couldn't speak any English. If they failed to explain anything during the tasting in English, they had better inform us at the beginning, as 4 out of 5 in my group are English speakers. Moreover, the price of the tickets (25 euros per person) was not cheap, we expected them to give us some useful introduction about the wines the terroir, and the difference among the wines. At a place for wine tourism, I don't think this is acceptable. We went to a museum to learn something but in the end, we learned nothing.
3. Spoiled wine samples for tasting!!!
The most terrible thing came. We tasted 5 wines. 4 of them tasted stale. The staff told us that some bottles were opened for one week and one for 4 days. They were opened way too long. The acidity of the wine was too sharp in an unpleasant way. The wine tasted too oxidized. The mousse of the crémant of Bourgogne we tasted lost. It tasted so flat. The staff insisted that their wines were okay after one week of opening even after we complained about the wines. We spend 25 euros per person not to taste some spoiled wine, please! We were awfully disappointed with the wines and service. They wasted the wine and our time."
