What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Platier d'Oye Nature Reserve for its serene atmosphere, well-maintained boardwalks suitable for all, and excellent birdwatching opportunities. The free parking and motorhome overnight stays are appreciated, though the lack of amenities for motorhomes is noted. Some find the beach access path sandy.
"Great natural area with a good boardwalk and birdwatching hides, toilets and free parking. Motorhomes can also stay overnight free of charge. No water or electricity or disposal facilities for motorhomes, but still a stop. A lot of terns and gulls flying over on their way to the nesting sites in April"

"We came here for an easy walk and a bit of peace and quiet. Parking is free and right at the tourist info. Public toilets right beside it.
There's no entrance fee to this beautiful Nature Reserve. A good part can be done with a stroller/wheelchair. Closer to the beach the path (mostly wooden planks) changes and gets more narrow and mostly contains of sand. We did walk that far with our Bulldogs pet stroller and turned back after that.
But it definitely is worth a visit, even you couldn't go a full circle (just by foot you definitely can and should). Along the way there are several viewpoints to enjoy the nation and the wildlife. Also some reminders of WWII still standing.
It's a very pretty area. Very calm, quiet and peaceful. As we hoped. Not really many visitors. Closer to the dunes and beach there are more folks around. But not along the way.
We really enjoyed our time here. Very pretty, very well made and maintained."

"Super place to observe shore birds on inland lakes. Several hides & well constructed boardwalks along the edge of the lakes/shore: gulls, terns, avocet, several kinds of grebe, shelduck & many more. Good parking, toilet, but visitor centre closed."
